HIV Medication

Did you know?

  • HIV/AIDS medication regimens are very complicated.
  • Most people benefit from help in developing a plan to take their medication.

Who can participate:

  • Anyone thinking about starting or anyone starting HIV/AIDS drug therapy.
  • Anyone changing their antiretroviral medicines.
  • Anyone experiencing difficulties taking their medication as prescribed.

Why you should participate

  • Be active regarding your health; take control of your nutritional status.
  • Help yourself by learning strategies for taking medication, and also planning for possible medication side effects.

What to expect:

  • You will be asked to fill out surveys, which will be used in planning for your care.
  • From the survey & related conversation, an individualized plan will be made with you to help you take your medication as prescribed.
  • Your plan may include many things. Some examples are: follow-up contacts, education about drug side effects and solutions, adherence devices like medisets or timers.
  • Your name will not appear on any form. A special code will be made for you.
  • Participation in monthly nutrition classes, one-on-one counseling and access to free vitamins.
